The article examines the main stages of the development of artificial intelligence, highlights the key areas and directions of its use. In order to answer the question about the merits of artificial intelligence, the benefits it brings and the potential dangers that lie in wait for humanity in connection with the excessive use of this tool, its main advantages and disadvantages were identified. Based on the results of the study, an attempt was made to answer the question: "Artificial intelligence: a threat to humanity or a solution to all its problems?"
