THE IMPACT OF DEPRESSIVE DISORDERS ON THE RUSSIAN ECONOMY: ECONOMIC LOSSES AND MEASURES TO IMPROVE THE CONDITION OF EMPLOYEES

Abstract (English):
The modern rapidly changing world, where developed and developing countries face a relatively new challenge for the economic system, associated with the growth of depressive disorders and their impact on the economic and innovative activity of the population. The author of this study aims to determine the impact of depressive disorders, including their key form, depression, on the economy and labor productivity in Russia. To achieve this goal, the following research tasks were solved: to analyze the theoretical foundations of depression and its impact on work; to assess the current state of the problem of depressive disorders in Russia; to assess the economic losses caused by depressive disorders for the economy as a whole and separately for business, the state and the family budget; to investigate existing measures to improve mental health in Russia. to develop recommendations for business and the state on improving the condition of workers. To solve the research tasks, the author applied the following methods: information analysis and synthesis; economic and mathematical method; method of induction and deduction; method of scientific abstractions; graphical method. The study provides a cost estimate of economic losses associated with depressive disorders, as well as a number of recommendations for business and government that can have a positive impact on the problem of the impact of depressive disorders on the economy of our country.
