This research examines the negative demographic and migration trends in the spatial development of the Russian Federation in the context of ensuring the economic security of the state. The object of the research is the spatial development of the Russian Federation in the context of ensuring the economic security of the state. The subject of the research is the prerequisites and causes of the deterioration of the demographic situation in most subjects of the Russian Federation as a source of formation of negative trends in spatial development in the context of ensuring the economic security of the state. The research used methods of complex and comparative analysis, grouping, graphical and tabular representation of data, deductive methods of cognition, as well as methods for identifying correlations and cause-effect relationships. According to the results of the research, it was determined that the main source of Russia's economic development in 2026 is human capital, which requires the state to create the necessary conditions. However, the economic and demographic situation in the country leads to increased decentralization between regions, which poses threats to territorial integrity and economic security. Such trends will inevitably lead to the degradation of the social and transport infrastructure of the regions, as well as reduce economic activity, which will entail risks of loss of human capital quality. Overcoming the demographic crisis is possible only with a combination of socio-economic, cultural, ideological, educational and technological tools combined with thoughtful adjustments in migration policy.
